A Future of Hope for the Children of Je Ye
An Educational Project to Ensure Learning and Growth in the Heart of Myanmar
In the village of Je Ye, Myanmar, access to education is severely limited, putting the future of many children at risk. The Sisters of Providence have been working in the area for years, but the current school is insufficient and in poor condition. The project aims to build a new elementary school, providing a safe and adequate environment for children's education.

A Village on the Borders, Between Autonomy and Hardships
Je Ye is a small village located in Special Region No. 4 of Myanmar, an area that enjoys a certain degree of autonomy from the central government due to agreements made in the 1990s. However, the strong Chinese influence in the region has contributed to a complex social and economic situation, where education is not a priority for local authorities. As a result, access to schooling for children is difficult and inadequate.

The Commitment of the Sisters of Providence
For over ten years, the Sisters of Providence have been serving in Je Ye, managing a kindergarten and teaching in the elementary school. However, the structural and educational conditions are extremely precarious: the building is inadequate, teaching materials are lacking, and after the second grade, children are forced to continue their studies in distant schools where instruction is mainly in Chinese. This situation exposes them to the risk of becoming involved in unsafe activities, such as those linked to the numerous Chinese-run casinos in the area.
A New Project for Better Education
To address this educational emergency, the sisters wish to build a new school building that can accommodate more students and ensure them a quality education. The project includes the construction of a school with six classrooms, an administration office, a teachers' room, restrooms, a porch, and a play area. The estimated cost is approximately €190,300, a high amount due to Myanmar’s difficult economic situation. Thanks to the help and generosity of those willing to contribute, this dream can become a reality, giving the children of Je Ye a brighter future.
